About The Position

This position is located at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, with the Directorate of Industrial Operations. Duties include reviewing maintenance operations, engineering support requests, and Command directives to optimize Depot operating efficiency. The role involves designing changes for computerized, automated test equipment (ATE) like the PATRIOT and HAWK systems, verifying compliance with accepted engineering practices, design specifications, and safety requirements, and comparing engineering alternatives with supporting facts and figures to present recommended solutions to command groups and higher headquarters.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed Tier 3 SECRET background investigation.
  • Completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period.
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering with an ABET-accredited program, OR a degree with differential and integral calculus and advanced courses in five of seven engineering science/physics areas, OR a combination of education and experience that includes a thorough knowledge of physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering and a good understanding of engineering sciences and techniques.
  • Professional registration or licensure as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, including specified courses.
  • Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field with at least 1 year of professional engineering experience under supervision.
  • One year of specialized experience which includes independently conducting comprehensive engineering investigations to evaluate designs, operations, and efficiencies of electrical and electronic processes.
  • One year of specialized experience serving as the primary technical coordinator and manager for special interest projects, managing liaison between depot elements, command groups, and private industry partners to identify and integrate state-of-the-art technological advancements.
  • One year of specialized experience designing, developing, and inspecting complex electronic systems and computerized Automated Test Equipment (ATE), including systems for Patriot and Hawk missile defense technologies, while providing software engineering support during design transitions.
  • Must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone; no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
