About The Position

Pratt Miller, an Oshkosh company, is a product development firm specializing in motorsports, defense, and mobility industries. They offer clients product engineering and low-volume production solutions, encompassing research & development, engineering, prototype manufacturing, test & validation, and low-rate production. The Senior Electronics Engineer will apply fundamental engineering knowledge and practices, along with in-depth experience, to design and develop electronic systems. This role involves performing assignments and leading projects with minimal supervision from senior engineers and managers, acting as a technical resource, and providing guidance to colleagues. The position supports the development of prototype and concept vehicles, with a significant focus on vehicle electrification, autonomous vehicles, and unmanned vehicle platforms.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and principles.
  • BS or MS in Automotive, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Systems.
  • Minimum 6+ years of engineering experience.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
  • Be a team player.
  • Have great attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • High Voltage system design experience.
  • Electrical and hybrid vehicle systems experience.
  • Autonomous & by-wire systems experience.
  • MATLAB, Simulink and Stateflow experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex engineering analysis and problem solving.
  • Create and approve engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Lead the design and specification of mechatronic and embedded systems including component selection, system architecture, and control methods.
  • Communicate mechanical requirements of system to design staff.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Use electronics related tools: oscilloscope, voltmeter, power supplies, hand tools, etc.
  • Lead electronics projects: develop and execute work plans, budgets, etc.
  • Develop new processes and engineering tools.
  • Support business development activities: proposal creation, cost and resource estimates, project timing, etc.
  • Design, specify and partition complex wire harness assemblies.
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise to colleagues and other departments.
  • Interaction with current and potential customers regarding Pratt Miller systems.
  • Planning and program management on internal and customer projects.
  • Education / training.
  • Provide feedback on product needs and processes.
