Electronics Engineer III
About The Position
Pratt Miller, an Oshkosh company, is a product development firm in the motorsports, defense, and mobility sectors, offering clients product engineering and low-volume production solutions. Their capabilities span research & development, engineering, prototype manufacturing, test & validation, and low-rate production, enabling customers to bring high-quality products to market more quickly. The Senior Electronics Engineer will apply fundamental engineering knowledge and practices, along with extensive experience, to design and develop electronic systems. This role involves undertaking assignments and leading projects with minimal supervision from senior engineers and managers, acting as a technical resource, and providing guidance to colleagues. The position will support the development of prototype and concept vehicles, with a significant emphasis on vehicle electrification, autonomous vehicles, and unmanned vehicle platforms.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and principles.
- BS or MS in Automotive, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Systems.
- Minimum 6+ years of engineering experience.
- Strong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint.)
- Be a team player.
- Have great attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- High Voltage system design experience.
- Electrical and hybrid vehicle systems experience.
- Autonomous & by-wire systems experience.
- MATLAB, Simulink and Stateflow experience.
- Vector CAN tools experience.

- Extensive knowledge of automotive, defense or motorsports industry requirements, standards, and trends.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex engineering analysis and problem solving.
- Create and approve engineering drawings and specifications.
- Lead the design and specification of mechatronic and embedded systems including component selection, system architecture, and control methods.
- Communicate mechanical requirements of system to design staff.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Use electronics related tools: oscilloscope, voltmeter, power supplies, hand tools, etc.
- Lead electronics projects: develop and execute work plans, budgets, etc.
- Develop new processes and engineering tools.
- Support business development activities: proposal creation, cost and resource estimates, project timing, etc.
- Design, specify and partition complex wire harness assemblies.
- Provide guidance and technical expertise to colleagues and other departments.
- Interaction with current and potential customers regarding Pratt Miller systems.
- Planning and program management on internal and customer projects.
- Education / training.
- Provide feedback on product needs and processes.
