About The Position

Seagate is looking for an Electronics Design Engineer within our Equipment Development Engineering Organization in our design center in Shakopee, MN. This candidate will join a team of engineers working to develop, qualify, and release complex electronic hardware as applied in disc drive head and media electric testers. Work will be hands-on in an engineering lab, working with high-speed digital and analog circuits at the component, printed circuit assembly, and final application levels using a combination of commercial bench test equipment, specialized test fixtures, and custom software. You will assist more senior engineers in solving and executing day-to-day tasks.

Requirements

  • You have circuit design experience with digital circuits and FPGAs.
  • You are a highly motivated individual that enjoys hands-on activity, circuit design, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
  • You can work effectively within a highly collaborative, dynamic, and capable team in a high technology lab environment.
  • You can interpret specifications, perform circuit checkout and troubleshooting, write reports, and develop and maintain documentation.
  • You have a strong background in computer programming (C++ and Python).
  • You have experience using eCAD software for schematic and PCB layout design such as KiCAD, Cadence, or Mentor Graphics.
  • You have experience with VHDL/Verilog programming and are familiar with FPGA programming software like Quartus Prime and/or Vivado.
  • You are also familiar with FPGA debugging tools such as test benches and waveform simulators.
  • You have strong troubleshooting skills.
  • You have a general understanding of Magnetic Recording principles.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Teamwork is a core competency at Seagate, so this individual must be able to work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of engineers and technicians.
  • Bachelor's Degree in BSEE/MSEE and 2+ years of experience, or Master’s degree in BSEE/MSEE and 0+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
