Job Title: Electronics Design Engineer II Reporting To: Business Unit Engineering Manager Work Schedule: Onsite – Johnson City, TN Electronics Design Engineer II Moog Inc. Johnson City, Tennessee, United States Our Space and Defense – Power & Data team is seeking an Electronics Design Engineer II to support the design and development of advanced electronic products for the MIL‑AERO market. In this role, you will report to the Electrical Engineering Manager and serve as both a hands-on technical contributor and a key technical resource for other design engineers. This is an onsite position in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering or a closely related technical field
  • 5 years of relevant experience in electronics hardware design and development
  • Demonstrated experience designing moderately complex electronic hardware from requirements through qualification testing and initial production

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal electronics, including Ethernet, FPGAs/CPLDs/MCUs, IoT architectures, power management, and signal integrity solutions
  • Proficiency with common communication protocols (USB, CAN, RS‑422/485, SPI, I²C, UART)
  • Strong background in EMI/EMC‑compliant design and MIL‑AERO qualification standards (MIL‑STD‑810/461/1275, DO‑160)
  • Experience with hardware characterization and debug, including S‑parameters, impedance profiling, and advanced lab instrumentation
  • Working knowledge of optical systems and measurement techniques

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of MIL‑AERO electronic products, contributing across multiple active programs
  • Develop and document moderately complex electronic hardware, including analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power supply designs
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to other design engineers
  • Design and develop hardware schematics, PCB layouts, and Bills of Material
  • Assemble, bring up, debug, and validate new electronic designs at the board and system level
  • Ensure all designs meet MIL‑AERO environmental and EMI/EMC compliance requirements
  • Support technical project planning activities, including: Requirements definition Proposals and cost estimates Schedule development Technical interface meetings with customers and vendors
  • Ensure full traceability between customer requirements and system requirements
  • Develop engineering test requirements and unit, subsystem, and system-level test plans
  • Support hardware through development, qualification testing, and low-rate initial production (LRIP)
  • Represent the organization in a manner consistent with its reputation for technical excellence and innovation
