We are a fast-growing Southern California technology innovator that solves tough, mission-critical challenges for our customers in the aerospace, defense, and commercial markets. We design, develop, and manufacture advanced products for ground, maritime, and airborne applications. We are seeking an exceptional Electronics Assembler II for our Operations Department. The successful candidate will have advanced electronics and mechanical manufacturing experience and will be proficient in soldering, mechanical assembly, and epoxy potting. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembly of an advanced electro-mechanical product to AS9100 standards. This is an on-site role located in Torrance, CA.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electronics with 4-5 years of experience or vocational training with 6-8 years of experience
  • 6-8 years in high-tech manufacturing/production environment
  • Good soldering skills (SMT, through-hole, and harnessing).
  • Good understanding of soldering work standards (IPC-A-610/J-STD-001).
  • Must be capable of following assembly procedures and drawings to perform mechanical system integration, as well as follow test procedures to perform functional testing.
  • Strong soldering capability (SMT, through-hole, fine-pitch, and harnessing).
  • Solid understanding of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards (current certification preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and work instructions.
  • Experience performing functional testing and following detailed test procedures.
  • High level of manual dexterity and attention to detail for intricate assemblies.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on complex tasks.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and quality focus.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-reliability manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent technical report writing skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with printed circuit board assembly, electrical harness production, ESD control, and handling optical components are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform precision hand soldering of electronic components (SMT, through-hole, and harnessing) in accordance with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
  • Assemble complex electro-mechanical systems, including PCB assemblies, cable harnesses, and subassemblies, using detailed drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Support prototype builds by interpreting engineering documentation, identifying issues, and providing feedback to improve manufacturability.
  • Execute production assembly and in-process inspection to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Perform epoxy potting, bonding, and conformal coating processes as required.
  • Maintain accurate material control, traceability, and inventory records in compliance with AS9100 procedures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Purchasing to resolve technical issues, material discrepancies, and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Interface with other departments to support material validation, workmanship standards, and part conformance.
  • Train and mentor team members on soldering techniques, workmanship standards, and best practices.
  • Identify assembly issues, nonconformances, and opportunities for process improvement; escalate as needed.
  • Maintain ESD compliance and proper handling of sensitive and optical components.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company standards.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support evolving production needs.
