Electronics Assembler 3 - TX

TDK-Lambda Americas•Plano, TX

About The Position

TDK-Lambda Americas is seeking a skilled, detail-oriented senior Electronics Assembler to build, prepare, and inspect complex electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies for high-reliability power supplies and related power-conversion systems. The role involves reading work orders, production drawings, schematics, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and manufacturing instructions to produce printed circuit board assemblies, wiring harnesses, subassemblies, and finished products. The assembler operates specialized production equipment, performs advanced soldering and mechanical assembly, conducts quality inspections, participates in and facilitates team discussions, and mentors and trains team members while upholding safety, workmanship, and ISO quality standards. The position also supports shipping, receiving, and inventory activities when needed and requires maintaining an orderly, safe production work area. It is based in a manufacturing plant or production facility, with frequent bench-level assembly and movement between workstations and equipment. The role has close visual and fine-dexterity demands, and may involve working near moving machinery and occasional exposure to soldering or cleaning fumes; exhaust and fume extractors are provided.

  • Six to ten years of related electronic or electro-mechanical assembly experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • IPC J-STD-001 Modules 1–3 certification or equivalent; Modules 1–4 certification or equivalent is required when performing hand assembly, rework, or SMT check-solder.
  • Strong working knowledge of IPC-A-610 workmanship and acceptance criteria.
  • Ability to read and interpret BOMs, assembly drawings, schematics, and manufacturing instructions, and identify components accurately according to BOM specifications and visual markings.
  • Advanced hand-soldering skills for through-hole and surface-mount components.
  • Experience setting up and operating automated assembly equipment such as pick-and-place, wave or selective solder, reflow oven, AOI, or CNC machinery.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency, including experience with ERP/MRP systems, intranet portals, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access), and basic system troubleshooting.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; calculate rates, ratios, and percentages; and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to follow detailed written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and resolve practical problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance with IPC quality standards, including proactively detecting defects and errors.
  • Ability to identify production and assembly discrepancies, troubleshoot mechanical or soldering issues, and collaborate on solutions.
  • Ability to balance individual and team duties, facilitate team meetings, and mentor and train others.
  • Clear oral and written communication skills, including the ability to read and accurately write instructions, correspondence, and technical logs.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage assembly build times, and keep materials and traveler packets organized.
  • Commitment to safe work habits, PPE compliance, ESD precautions, and consistent 5S workstation upkeep.
  • Dependability, punctuality, consistent attendance, and ability to respond positively to direction and take ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including extended standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and fine-dexterity work; occasional kneeling or crouching; and lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds.
