About The Position

Abaco Systems is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Electronic Test Technician to support the testing, troubleshooting, and validation of advanced embedded computing products used in demanding aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. In this role, you will perform board-level functional testing, analyze test results and trends, and collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure the delivery of high-reliability products. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining product quality, improving manufacturing efficiency, and identifying opportunities for process improvement. Abaco Systems is looking for an Electronic Test Technician to join our manufacturing operations in Huntsville, Alabama. You will focus on testing and validating complex electronic circuit card assemblies and embedded computing products in a fast-paced, high-technology environment. You will have hands-on experience with electronic hardware testing, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to accurately execute test procedures while maintaining a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience testing electronic circuit card assemblies.
  • Experience working with electronic test equipment and computer-based test systems.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow engineering documentation and test procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or Technical School certification in Electronics Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment supporting aerospace, defense, medical, or industrial electronics.
  • Familiarity with embedded computing platforms, networking products, RF assemblies, or ruggedized electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functional and board-level testing of electronic assemblies using automated and software-controlled test platforms in Windows and Linux environments.
  • Execute testing of products utilizing VME, VPX, CompactPCI, Single Board Computer (SBC), networking, and RF technologies.
  • Analyze test results and identify trends, recurring failures, and potential process improvements; provide feedback to Manufacturing and Engineering teams.
  • Utilize environmental test chambers to conduct temperature and environmental stress testing of electronic assemblies.
  • Program and configure programmable devices using tools such as Intel/Altera, Lattice, and Xilinx development environments.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities related to product quality and test failures.
  • Maintain production flow by actively managing assigned work orders and reducing aged Work-in-Process (WIP).
  • Perform basic hardware assembly and disassembly activities using hand tools as required for testing and troubleshooting.
  • Accurately document test results, failures, rework requirements, and other manufacturing records.
  • Follow all established manufacturing procedures, quality standards, ESD controls, and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain personnel to support production objectives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, efficiency, throughput, and customer satisfaction.
