About The Position

This position is for an Electronic Technician, specifically a Maintenance Electrician Technician, at Level 2. This level requires advanced abilities to perform complex maintenance activities, including problem-solving, critical thinking, and improving processes and equipment reliability. Technicians at this level should understand materials and maintenance activities well enough to train others, develop and facilitate training for peers or lower-level mechanics, and improve processes. Process improvement can involve developing people, maintenance activities, work instructions, drawings, diagrams, or more complex parts. Electives are specialty areas where a partner can develop advanced skills, which may be requested or required based on company needs. General proficiency at level 1 is required for elective areas. The role involves performing checks for Food Safety, Food Quality, and customer requirements, following reaction plans for deviations, and understanding customer requirements to ensure proper production operation. Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, housekeeping, and safety guidelines, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment and conforming to regulatory requirements, is mandatory. The Technician performs maintenance work within allocated time, documenting all work and parts used in the CMMS. This includes modifying, fabricating, and upgrading production equipment, performing identified corrective work, and implementing preventive maintenance tasks. The role utilizes preventive and predictive maintenance techniques and tools (e.g., Ultrasonic, Infrared, oil analysis, vibration analysis, laser alignment) to generate corrective work requests and improve equipment reliability. Troubleshooting and repair activities are core functions, including identifying necessary parts, supplies, and tools. The Technician tracks and reports performance metrics to aid in action plans and improvement ideas. Continuous training is required for certification levels and to stay current with maintenance techniques. The role involves using Oracle eAM and generating reports for budget and work planning. At Level 3, proficiency in software applications like Visual Work Instruction, eAM, and MS Office Products is expected, along with providing input for improvements. Modifying schematics or blueprints using various methods (hard copy sketches, CAD, AutoCAD) is also part of the role. Complex repair and diagnosis of various process equipment, complex system troubleshooting, and troubleshooting/repair of electrical, controllers, and instruments are key responsibilities. PLC operation, including programming and communications for Control Logix 5000, SLC 500, and PLC 5, as well as maintaining and troubleshooting integrated motion control, is required. Modifying existing Panelview/HMI programs and understanding GuardLogix, programming, communications, and distributed safety I/O are also necessary. Elective areas include HAZWOPER, Precision Measurement and Machining, Electrical/Controllers/Instruments (specifying parts like VFDs, motor controllers, instrumentation), Pneumatics and Hydraulics, Lubrication/Bearings/Seals, Fasteners/Tools, Drives and Transmissions, Air compressors and dryers, Boilers, Hot and cold water systems, Operation of engine room systems, Air handlers, Ammonia systems, and Plant Utilities (electrical feeds, water supply). The position requires an absenteeism rate of 65 points or less, a commendable or better record in teamwork and overall job performance, and no disciplinary action. English speaking/reading is required for positions needing comprehension.

Requirements

  • Maintenance/electrical knowledge and/or experience.
  • Experienced plant operators with exposure to maintenance can be considered.
  • High School Diploma – G.E.D.
  • Associate degree – Maintenance or computer related
  • Technical School - Maintenance or computer related
  • Certificate/License - Maintenance or computer related
  • Must be able to perform at the described skill level in order to attain and retain the level certification.
  • Continued learning to achieve certification or required skills and abilities as dictated by company needs are required to attain and retain level certification.
  • The ability to communicate with leadership, vendors, contractors, other maintenance partners, line operators via phone, fax, email, text, and person-to-person.
  • Level 3 technicians may be required to meet trainer qualifications to perform peer to peer training.
  • The position will require continuous advancement of technical knowledge and skills.
  • Applicants must demonstrate success in training courses and will be expected to actively participate in assigned or elected training courses to refresh fundamental skills and match technology needs within the company.
  • The position will require the ability to multi-task and the ability to shift priorities quickly.
  • Applicants must pass the company’s testing requirement and local plant tests for maintenance positions.
  • Applicants must also meet all other Schreiber bid qualifications.

  • Fasteners, Tools - Uses appropriate meter for troubleshooting electrical or electromechanical components.
  • Drives and Transmissions - Verify settings in various motor controllers based on name plate, OEM, or other technical data for motorized drives.
  • Air compressors and dryers, Boilers - Understand hazards, types of equipment
  • Hot and cold water systems Understands system from a purpose and functionality standpoint.
  • Operation of engine room systems - Understands system from a purpose and functionality standpoint.
  • Basic understanding of hazards and appropriate individual responses.
  • Air handlers - Reads associated schematics and identify basic electrical or electromechanical components.
  • Ammonia systems - Basic understanding of system from a purpose and functionality standpoint. Can identify and correct electrical or electromechanical issues as requested working with qualified operator.
  • Plant Utilities - Has general knowledge of main electrical feeds and can use the one line drawing to isolate or locate major electrical components or panels. Has general knowledge of main water supply feeds, backflow preventers, main water shut off, and branch isolation valves and processes.
  • Alarm Systems - Can locate and read trouble codes on panels. Can communicate codes effectively and follow basic reset commands via telephone if needed or assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all process CP, CCP, QP, and CQP checks required for the position.
  • Follow reaction plans for Food Safety, Food Quality and customer requirement deviations.
  • Identify and understand customer requirements and assist in assuring proper production operation.
