About The Position

AFO is looking for an Electronic Maintenance Technician to work in Chambersburg, PA. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining moderately complex electronic and electromechanical systems. The technician will use technical manuals, schematics, and specialized test equipment to troubleshoot issues, perform modifications, and ensure proper system functionality. While working under supervision and with guidance from higher-level technicians, the role also includes supporting and guiding junior technicians. The position requires applying technical knowledge to solve routine problems, understanding circuit relationships, and planning work sequences, tools, and testing methods. Work may be performed in various environments, including outdoor conditions. The technician will rebuild, modify, and test electronic assemblies and subassemblies, conduct inspections to diagnose issues and determine repair feasibility, and disassemble, repair, modify, troubleshoot, and adjust complex electronic systems. This includes interpreting technical documents and using test equipment to diagnose and repair malfunctions. The role requires determining repair feasibility and required parts using technical references, independently selecting tools, planning tasks, and executing proper work sequences. Troubleshooting and repairing complex circuit boards and wiring systems, as well as providing guidance to junior technicians, are key aspects of the job. A forklift license may be required.

Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in the field.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Ability to Obtain and Maintain Government Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains moderately complex electronic and electromechanical systems using technical manuals, schematics, and specialized test equipment.
  • Works under supervision to troubleshoot issues, perform modifications, and ensure proper system functionality while supporting and guiding junior technicians.
  • Applies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve routine problems using manuals and technical documents.
  • Understands circuit relationships and plans work sequences, tools, and testing methods.
  • Works under supervision with guidance from higher-level technicians.
  • Performs work in various environments, including outdoor conditions.
  • Rebuilds, modifies, and tests electronic assemblies and subassemblies of moderate complexity.
  • Conducts inspections to diagnose issues and determine repair feasibility.
  • Disassembles, repairs, modifies, troubleshoots, and adjusts complex electronic systems (e.g., Hawk, Patriot, FAAR).
  • Inspects configurations and replaces or repairs defective components.
  • Interprets technical documents (DMWRs, MWOs, MCMs, TMs, schematics, diagrams) to perform repairs and modifications.
  • Uses test equipment (voltmeters, ohmmeters, meggers) to diagnose and repair malfunctions.
  • Applies knowledge of electronic principles and electromechanical practices across various components and systems.
  • Determines repair feasibility and required parts using technical references.
  • Independently selects tools, plans tasks, and executes proper work sequences.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs complex circuit boards and wiring systems.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to junior technicians.
  • May be required to obtain a forklift license upon request.
