About The Position

The Kentucky State Police is seeking an Electronic Technician II to perform the installation and maintenance of electronic equipment, including radios, radars, mobile data routers, antennas, emergency equipment, and other public safety equipment. This role involves working closely with other technicians, evaluating and developing new methods and equipment for public safety, and ensuring public safety personnel have the necessary tools to perform their duties safely and effectively.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • One year of technical experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment.
  • Technical training in electronics or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Additional technical experience will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Team player.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Electronics and Electrical experience.
  • Two-way radio knowledge.
  • Proficient with tools.
  • Troubleshooting.
  • IT/Computer networking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains and repairs electronic equipment and devices.
  • Tests electronic equipment to evaluate performance and recommends corrective procedures.
  • Coordinates work done in the supply electronic shop and in the field.
  • Monitors stock level of electronic parts and makes orders, as necessary.
  • Tests and evaluates new electronic equipment to determine feasibility of Agency use.
  • Inspects surplus vehicles to determine which electronic parts may be repaired or reused.
  • Removes parts from surplus vehicles; makes any necessary repairs and installs into new vehicles.
  • Contacts vendors regarding warranty work on electronic equipment and ensures the work is completed.
