About The Position

The mission of the Florida Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is to provide management oversight of the Florida National Guard and provide units and personnel ready to support national security objectives; to protect the public safety of citizens and to contribute to the national, state and community programs that add value to the United States of America and to the State of Florida.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent; AND
  • Two (2) years of professional, full-time-equivalent experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge of the procedures, techniques, equipment, and tools used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment.
  • Knowledge of electronic equipment components and design requirements.
  • Skill in using specialized tools and equipment to install, maintain and repair electronic equipment.
  • Ability to identify and repair electronic malfunctions in electronic equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow technical instructions relating to the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to obtain a completion of a favorable National Agency Check background investigation clearance.
  • New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Inspections, test, diagnose, install, repair, replace, service, modifies, alters, range operation support and identify safety issues with range layouts, target and range scenarios for all automated ranges, automated target and related range IT systems, Sound Effects Simulators (SES), and Battlefield Effects Simulator (BES) components:
  • Inspect, test, and diagnose automated ranges, target, and safety issues. This includes motors, drive gear, switches, sensors, wiring harness, brackets, relays, circuit cards, rectifiers, transformers, modems, radios, batteries, computer program, network switch, surge suppressers, and silhouettes. Report safety issues to supervisor.
  • Remove and transport, install, replace parts, or service automated ranges, temporary range setups, target, SES, or BES equipment. This includes motors, drive gear, switches, sensors, wiring harness, brackets, batteries, relays, circuit cards, rectifiers, transformers, modems, radios, batteries, computer program, network switch, surge suppressers, power connectors and cables, signal connectors and cables, gas regulators and lines, target, SES and BES layout, target protection, and silhouettes. This includes bullets holes in target box and target protection cover.
  • Modifies or upgrades automated ranges, target, SES, or BES equipment. This includes motors, drive gear, switches, sensors, wiring harness, brackets, relays, circuit cards, rectifiers, modems, radios, batteries, computer program, network switch, surge suppressers, power connectors and cables, signal connectors and cables, gas regulators and lines, target, SES and BES layout, and silhouettes.
  • Writes scenarios for proper target operation.
  • Performs automated direct range support. This includes responding to range support calls to quickly diagnose and make corrections to target range faults whether by repairing or total replacement of faulty components (whichever is the fastest means) to limit range down time.
  • Operates a variety of testing equipment and the utilization of various tools, machines such as electronic, electrical and signal testing equipment, hand and all power tools, forklifts, soldering, and brazing; that may be required for tasks assigned. To include utilization of all proper safety equipment with each task.
  • Ensures materials used are documented and assigned work orders are completed in a timely manner
  • Performs Automated Tower Support operations. This includes the range, startup, operation, and clearing of malfunction procedures.
  • Travels to various locations as required to support automated range support for the FL RTLP Program in direct support of FLNG units.
