About The Position

To install, repair, troubleshoot, construct, adjust, modify, and service all types of electronic and electrical equipment. This role involves analyzing circuits, wiring diagrams, and specifications to perform scheduled and emergency repairs, installations, and inspections. The Electronic Repairman will work with a variety of electronic systems, including communication equipment, data processing systems, control systems, closed-circuit television, electric motors, generators, and transformers. The position requires planning work procedures, identifying material needs, and troubleshooting repair problems. Responsibilities include making sketches, designing and constructing adaptations, assembling, inspecting, adjusting, repairing, or replacing faulty parts and wiring. The role also involves making mechanical and electrical repairs, inspecting and testing equipment for safe operation, maintaining communication cables, making power cable splices, and working at heights on buildings, towers, cranes, and mill equipment. Safety precautions and proper circuit isolation are critical. The job requires a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, wiring specifications, codes, material properties, and equipment operation. Fabricating parts, installing conduit, fittings, switches, controls, and fixtures are also part of the duties. Work can be performed in the shop or field, and maintaining performance and maintenance records is necessary. Assistance to other trade or craft personnel may be required.

Requirements

  • Ability to analyze all types of circuits, wiring diagrams, and drawings.
  • Knowledge of electronic systems and their components, communications equipment, data recording and processing equipment, electronic computing and control systems, closed circuit television systems, electric motors, circuits, generators, transformers, etc.
  • Skill in troubleshooting and repair of electronic and electrical equipment.
  • Ability to make mechanical and electrical repairs.
  • Proficiency in inspecting, dismantling, servicing, reassembling, testing, and adjusting equipment.
  • Experience in maintaining, installing, or repairing communication cables or wiring.
  • Ability to make power cable splices.
  • Willingness to climb on buildings, towers, cranes, and mill equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, wiring specifications, codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operations and application of equipment.
  • Skill in using machine and hand tools common to the trades for fabricating parts.
  • Ability to install conduit, fittings, switches, controls, and fixtures.
  • Ability to wire and connect all types of electronic and electrical equipment.
  • Willingness to work in shop or field.
  • Ability to maintain performance and maintenance records.
  • Ability to assist other trade or craft personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, troubleshoot, construct, adjust, modify, and service all types of electronic and electrical equipment.
  • Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams, and specifications to install, repair, adjust, calibrate, construct, modify, or service electronic and electrical devices and systems.
  • Plan details of working procedure, determine material or replacement needs, and select a logical approach to troubleshooting and repair problems.
  • Answer trouble calls.
  • Make sketches of parts and layouts; design and construct adaptations or conversions of component parts.
  • Assemble, inspect, adjust, repair, or replace faulty parts and wiring on all types of electronic and electrical equipment and/or devices.
  • Make mechanical and electrical repairs as required in connection with the servicing of electronic and electrical equipment.
  • Inspect, dismantle, service, reassemble, test, and adjust equipment for safe and proper operation.
  • Maintain, install, or repair all communication cables or wiring.
  • Make power cable splices.
  • Climb on buildings, towers, cranes, and mill equipment to make inspections, repairs, and installations.
  • Consider all safety precautions and proper isolations of circuits to cause a minimum of interference to operations.
  • Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, wiring specifications, codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operations and application of equipment.
  • Fabricate parts as required using machine and hand tools common to the trades.
  • Install conduit, fittings, switches, controls, and fixtures; wire and connect all types of electronic and electrical equipment as required for new installations or replacement of facilities.
  • Work in shop or field as required.
  • Maintain performance and maintenance records on electronic equipment.
  • Assist other trade or craft personnel as required for proper maintenance of any and all Press Plant equipment.
