About The Position

Quest Defense Systems and Solutions is seeking an Electronic Hardware Engineer to join a team developing a new control system platform for nuclear power plants. The Instrumentation & Controls Hardware Engineer works within the I&C Technology team and is responsible for designing and implementing I&C electronic hardware and software for I&C systems for Nuclear Power Plants. The I&C Technology team has strong interfaces with electronic software design and plant system operations. This role requires technical problem-solving, strong hardware design skills, strong FPGA skills, and effective communication/collaboration with other teams within our client business functions. Due to the nature of the project, all applicants must be U.S. citizens or US lawful permanent residents. This role is onsite in Wilmington, NC. Relocation Assistance may be provided.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of common PLD/FPGA languages and PLD/FPGA development tools (Signal Tap, Debuggers, etc).
  • Experience with coding conventions, unit testing, and integration testing of PLD/FPGA's.
  • Circuit board layout experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design specifications.
  • Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design using tools such as Altium.
  • Programmable Logic Device (PLD) design.
  • Performing simulation/module testing of designs.
  • Performing integration testing of the design.
  • Documenting test results.
  • Creating manufacturing test procedures for designs.
  • Performing PLD / FPGA code reviews.
  • Performing Verification of Design Specifications and Reports.
  • Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks.
  • Work with Tech Leads to establish an effective work plan, including time estimates, schedule estimates, requirements, and work processes.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals and 1st order engineering principles to establish and/or confirm expected performance.
  • Provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with GE engineering procedures.
  • Manage time effectively to provide quality deliverables within the expected project timeline.
  • Communicate effectively to leadership the status of work activities.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities.
