About The Position

Joby Aviation is seeking a Detail-oriented and passionate electro-mechanical technician to join our powertrain team and help build flight-critical components for our VTOL electric aircraft. The Joby Aviation team is made up of extremely talented, hardworking, proactive, and hands-on individuals, operating in a very fast-paced and rewarding environment. Requirements

  • Previous experience as NPI (new product introduction) or engineering technician
  • Perform soldering of through hole and larger pitch components
  • Harness fabrication and electronic rework
  • Experience with industrial environments and procedures
  • Experience working on high voltage systems and/or complex electromechanical systems
  • Experience writing and following work instructions
  • Proficiency with machining, Mill & Lath mid level, welding, and overall mechanical craftsmanship
  • Experience with instrumentation
  • Familiarity with CAD and reading engineering drawings
  • 4 years hands on lab experience or R&D environments
  • Well rounded in all levels of communication, collaboration with engineering to troubleshoot and refine test setups

Nice To Haves

  • General understanding of electronic components and circuit principles
  • Basic circuit knowledge (Ohm's law, reading R, L, C values, current limits)
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wire harness drawings and assembly drawings
  • Experience working with basic electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with engineering to develop and build our latest hardware
  • Assemble hardware for use on test stands or on aircraft while maintaining associated documentation. This will involve mechanical assembly of parts and sub-systems, etc
  • Develop assembly methods and tools on quickly developing designs
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and testing of electromechanical assemblies
  • Build test setups for R&D labs and perform hardware characterization tests
