Electromagnetics & High Frequency Power Electronics Engineer

General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc•McLeansville, NC
•$142,696 - $158,303

About The Position

As an Electromagnetics & High Frequency Power Electronics Engineer at General Dynamics Mission Systems, you will join a cross-functional team developing smaller, more efficient high-voltage power supplies for subsea communication systems. The role focuses on electromagnetics, custom high-frequency magnetics, resonant power conversion, and high-voltage isolation design. You will apply electromagnetic analysis and finite element simulation to design magnetic components and optimize performance before hardware is built, while accounting for high-frequency losses, thermal behavior, winding effects, leakage inductance, capacitance, and EMI/EMC. The position also involves designing and optimizing resonant LC tank circuits, integrating transformer and resonant-network behavior, and tuning systems for zero-voltage or zero-current switching to improve efficiency. The successful candidate will identify opportunities to use AI for continuous improvement and innovation. A Department of Defense Secret clearance must be obtainable within a reasonable time after hire; U.S. citizenship is required. The position is fully onsite or hybrid/flex at the McLeansville Design Center. A flexible 9/80 schedule, including every other Friday off, is available if desired. The estimated annual salary range is $142,696–$158,303, with actual pay varying based on experience and other factors.
