About The Position

Leidos has an opening for an Electro-Mechanical Technician to work in our Albuquerque, NM office. This exciting opportunity will challenge you to use your problem-solving skills to develop the next generation of directed energy (DE) weapons for the US Air Force. You will join a team that conducts research, development and testing on high power electromagnetic (HPEM) components and systems at Kirtland, AFB.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • A high school diploma with more than 3 years of related experience or an Associate’s degree with prior relevant experience.
  • Ability to create, read, interpret and update electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Maturity and integrity to understand and abide by facility rules and regulations for personnel safety and environmental compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with high voltage (up to 100 kV) and high current (up to 10 kA) power systems.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and LCR impedance meters, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, as well as calipers and micrometers.
  • Familiarity with antennas and microwave field mapping.
  • Knowledge of control systems, including relay logic, Allen Bradley controllers, supervisory controllers (SCADAs) and LabView-based systems.
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • A current license is highly desirable.
  • Experience with modifying and maintaining military vehicles.
  • Experience with the setup, operation, and maintenance of product lines.
  • Cable fabrication including fiber optic cables.
  • Soldering skills

Responsibilities

  • Work independently to operate, repair and maintain high-power equipment such as power supplies, vacuum pumps, electric generators and circulation pumps.
  • Build and implement control boards and safety interlocks.
  • Work with the engineering team to troubleshoot hardware problems, brainstorm solutions and implement them.
  • Set up field experiments with sensors and instrumentation, collect data records and archive them.
  • Track equipment and spares inventory and initiate purchase orders necessary to maintain stock.
  • Build and repair cables
