About The Position

The Turlock Plant is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Technician for grave shift to join our winning team. This role involves installing, operating, adjusting, and maintaining industrial production, processing, and building systems. The technician will serve as a technical resource for the production team, providing support for production targets, operator training, equipment maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities also include supporting capital projects, collaborating on troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, and performing PLC troubleshooting and editing as needed. The role requires installation, repair, and testing of electrical/mechanical systems including HVAC, lighting, PLC control systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Familiarity with Boilers, Wastewater treatment plants, Chillers, and Air compressors is necessary. The technician will also perform preventive maintenance, create work orders, manage parts inventory, and provide guidance to external contractors. Welding and metal fabrication skills are required for installations and repairs, along with the ability to read equipment manuals. Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in a food processing facility, support for team technical growth, and ensuring Food Safety, Food Security, and Food Quality are paramount.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment performing maintenance and electrical repairs on equipment.
Must be able to work with manuals, P&ID’s, and electrical schematics.
Must be familiar with AC/DC motor controls, ranging from 480VAC to 24VDC.
Must be familiar with VFDs.
Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Expert in troubleshooting and repairing motors, conveyors, Pneumatics, production equipment.
Determining root cause of operational errors and action planning.
Watching performance indicators to make sure a machine is working as designed.
Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
Installing equipment, machinery, wiring, and/or programs to meet specifications.
Ability to effectively transfer technical knowledge to operations personnel.
Have experience in operating industrial mobile equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.
Position may require performing duties alone or as a member of a team.
Positive communications skills a must.
Position requires good knowledge of various industrial production equipment used in the plant.
Must possess math aptitude for measurement, calibrations, and specifications.
Work consists of different tasks requiring a search for solutions from several alternatives.
Must regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment.
Must be able to determine and solve technical problems in the field.
Must be able to work with a variety of hand tools and power tools.
Works under limited supervision and receives instructions, and guidelines from Managers.
May have to decide what actions to take when handling most tasks.
Must be able to write reports and perform other assigned duties as required.
Must understand Blue Diamond line certification, HACCP processes and auditing, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Must be familiar with NEC, as well as OSHA, ANSI, and machine safety standards.
Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.

Nice To Haves

A working knowledge of PLC logic and hardware is highly desired.
Knowledge of Layout and install of conduit is highly desired, as well as perform various types of welding such as, Tig and Mig.
Previous experience in food processing and lean manufacturing is highly desired.
May be required to attend outside training seminars.

Responsibilities

Safely Install, operate, adjust, and maintain industrial production, processing and building systems in support of Plant goals and objectives.
Be the technical resource for the production team for the fulfillment of their on-going production targets.
Support on-going capital projects in support of plant goals.
Collaborate with Operator Technicians for troubleshooting and maintenance of industrial plant mechanical and electrical power distribution and machine control systems.
PLC troubleshooting, program editing, as required to meet production requirements.
Install, repair, and test electrical/mechanical systems on industrial equipment within the plant including HVAC, lighting systems, PLC control systems, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
Must have working knowledge of Boilers, Wastewater treatment plant, Chillers, and Air compressors.
Repair, install, replace and tests electrical circuits, equipment within the plant using hand tools and testing instruments.
Isolate defects in wiring, switches, and other elements of electrical systems which includes set up and repair of electronic sorting equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
Evaluate existing preventive maintenance tasks and create new ones as needed.
Create work orders, order required parts as required.
Work with / provide guidance for contractors that are engaged in providing outside services.
Welding and metal fabrication on steel and stainless steel is needed to perform installations and repairs.
Reading Manuals for equipment installations.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) in a food processing facility.
Support the technical growth of the team through on-going training and driving continuous improvement.
