About The Position

As an Electro-Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be part of our power tools engineering team working as a hybrid employee. This position requires knowledge of electromechanical assemblies and/or Battery Packs. You will be expected to evaluate, approve, and implement engineering change orders. You will work with cross-functional teams to qualify alternate battery cells, electronic modules and other components-based battery packs along with second source development for subcomponents. You will perform Structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis packages and thermal analysis and thermal management for high power electronic assemblies. You will work with the model shop and suppliers to get the prototypes, attend product builds at contract manufacturer. You will work with various disciplines inside the organization such as ID, Marketing, Manufacturing compliance, safety and purchasing to understand design considerations and Product CTQs. You will perform tolerance stack ups, DFMEA’s, PFMEA’s, process control plans, release Engineering Changes. You will design test plans, analyze results from advance testing. You will design using 3D modeling techniques, releasing 2D detailed drawings, creating and managing BOM from prototype level to mass production level of product development cycle in PLM system. You will work closely with design teams to help launch time critical products and work closely with cross-functional groups including test department and manufacturing. A high level of organization is required to manage multiple projects. You are expected to write test plans and assist in the development of fixtures and test equipment. You will be able to create 2D drawings and possess a firm understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance. You are expected to approve FPIs and review completed tests. You will utilize lab test equipment such as data collection equipment, power supply, oscilloscope and electronic load to conduct testing. You will employ Design of Experiments and other scientific methods to develop/qualify processes.

Requirements

  • B.S. or equivalent in Mechanical engineering discipline, MSME preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in product development of Li Ion Battery packs and Battery Management Systems
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling software, a must, CATIA V5 preferred
  • Familiarity with Printed Circuit Board design desired
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes for various electronic and other products
  • Demonstrated ability to design plastic components, metallic components, working with various materials
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and meet schedule and cost commitments
  • Have excellent communication skills to deal with customers and suppliers to meet the targets of scheduled events
  • Supplier development for key components and working with contract manufacturers
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack ups, Failure analysis etc
  • Strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally
