About The Position

Zalkin Americas is seeking a talented Electro-Mechanical Engineer with Mechatronics knowledge to be responsible for designing capping machines, capping machine accessories and machine components for bottle capping machinery. The Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the design process, including analyzing application requirements, configuring systems, designing parts and assemblies, creating line layouts, maintaining documentation and communication with coworkers and customers. In addition using the Mechatronics skillset this position will help design and optimize smart machines and automated systems. This position reports directly to the Technical Director and is located in Statham, GA area. Electro-Mechanical engineering projects include obtaining customer specifications and designing the mechanical components of the machinery. This involves working closely with the Sales Department, application of mechanical engineering knowledge best practices of machinery principles and materials, manufacturing methods and processes to insure designs are functional, practical, economical and satisfy customer operating requirements.

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in machine design.
  • Designing for manufacturability.
  • 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
  • Must be fluent in use of SolidWorks and AutoCAD (2D).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, knowledge of mechanical systems, experience with control systems, software development, and an understanding of electronics and automation are essential.
  • A general knowledge of product handling, machine capabilities and assembly principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to travel 10% of the time

Nice To Haves

  • Packaging experience preferred.
  • 2+ years experience in Mechatronics with Siemiens or AB PLC a plus.
  • SolidWorks certification (CSWE / CSWP) is preferred.
  • Sheetmetal experience and certification is desired but not necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Be an expert in utilizing Solidworks as primary computer-aided design (CAD) platform.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD for 2D electrical schematics and line layout creation / modification.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles, designs new products and systems that meet company standards and customer requirements.
  • Modify existing designs in equipment to meet performance specifications and customer requirements.
  • Research and analyze data, such as customer requirements, design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine the feasibility of the design or application.
  • Meet company quality standards, objectives and deadlines to successfully fulfil requirements.
  • Perform design reviews with customers and communicate with vendors as needed.
  • Prioritize projects based on the scope of established operations schedule deadlines.
  • Interface with Manufacturing to ensure machinery designs meet Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) and may include revising of mechanical design specifications/drawings.
  • Interfacing with the Production Department to conduct machinery mechanical and electrical testing.
  • Develop automation solutions using mechanical, computer, and electrical technology.
  • Implement intelligent robotics and instrumentation using mechanical, computer and electronic technology to develop solutions to problems.
  • Act as a technical resource for customers and Service Department‘s Service Technicians to address and resolve inquiries and problems. Especially, during machine installation and start-up in customer plant(s).
