Shift: The regular hours for this position are day shift. The Electro‑Mechanical Assembly Technician performs advanced assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and field service work on complex electro‑mechanical and precision optical systems. This role supports the full production lifecycle—from high‑precision assembly and wiring through system validation, installation, and customer‑site maintenance. Technicians at this level are expected to work independently, interpret complex schematics and assembly documentation, diagnose issues across multiple technical domains, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires strong hands‑on expertise with precision mechanics, electronics, optics, vacuum components, and system-level integration.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of hands-on experience in electro‑mechanical, optical, or high‑precision manufacturing; experience in a high‑tech or R&D production environment highly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex assembly documentation, schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical prints.
  • Proven problem‑solving skills with the ability to independently diagnose and correct system issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to use hand tools, power tools, measurement equipment, and electronic test instruments.
  • Strong soldering proficiency (IPC standards a plus) and experience in fine‑pitch wire harness assembly.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision using BOMs, drawings, verbal and written instructions, and engineering documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Quality‑driven mindset with consistent demonstration of high‑standard workmanship.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience working in ERP/MRP systems highly desirable.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% for customer installations and service.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced electro‑mechanical assembly of precision instruments, assemblies, and sub‑assemblies that require exceptional accuracy, care, and adherence to tight tolerances.
  • Fabricate wiring harnesses using schematics, including fine‑wire soldering, crimping, routing, and ensuring high‑reliability connections.
  • Conduct functional testing, calibration, verification, and pack‑out of sub‑assemblies and full system builds.
  • Independently perform corrective and preventive maintenance on customer‑installed systems, including diagnostics, component repair/replacement, and system adjustments.
  • Support installation, setup, acceptance testing, and service of systems at customer sites (domestic and international as required).
  • Contribute to the creation, revision, and documentation of operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and assembly guidelines.
  • Maintain workstation organization, equipment calibration, material readiness, and safe operation of tools and machinery.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to identify process improvements and enhance product performance.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to record work, track materials, and ensure accurate build documentation.
