About The Position

Under general supervision of the Plant Engineer and direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, works with others to complete job and instruct workers of same or lower classification in performing various maintenance and construction jobs. Must be proficient in one of the following I or II categories and will perform duties within the other category when it is a requisite for job completion or as directed by the supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and works from blueprints and sketches of assemblies and installations.
  • Makes measurements and calculations as necessary for installation and changes.
  • Possesses practical knowledge of how to proceed on assignments. Lays out and organizes jobs to accomplish them with maximum effectiveness.
  • Works on all types of plant machinery used to manufacture products, handle materials, maintain facilities, protect well-being of employees, and so forth.
  • Moves any kind of equipment using the proper procedure, rigging, and gear.
  • Assembles, erects, installs, and connects equipment and machinery.
  • Inspects equipment and reports on defective parts and unsatisfactory conditions to further preventative maintenance program.
  • Maintains, adjusts, services and lubricates equipment keeping it in good operating condition with respect to proper aligning, functioning, and lubrication of parts.
  • Diagnoses equipment trouble and uses proper procedure to correct faults.
  • On repairs and maintenance work, dismantles and moves equipment; cleans, replaces, or repairs parts; rebuilds or reassembles and installs units.
  • Works with metal and other materials as applies to machining, fabricating, setting up, repairing or dismantling of equipment.
