About The Position

This position oversees, inspects, repairs, installs, and wires all electrical apparatus, devices, and circuits of any voltage in the plant or assigned area. The role requires a thorough knowledge of electrical principles, wiring, specifications, codes, and the operation and application of equipment. The Electrician will analyze drawings and wiring diagrams, dismantle, clean, repair, replace, install, adjust, and lubricate electrical equipment while taking safety precautions. This includes troubleshooting and repairing AC/DC motor drives, programmable logic controllers, sensors, analog devices, and radio controls for overhead cranes and locomotives. The position also involves assisting plant Electrical Engineers and understanding the company's Quality Management System.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, vocational school certificate, or GED.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common electrical and technical journals.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be computer literate and able to work with programs that control equipment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Four plus years of experience or Electrical Journeyman card is Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Observes all safety regulations.
  • Receives instructions from Maintenance Foreman covering scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work.
  • Communicates details of work with supervision to affect the most logical approach to the job.
  • Performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical principles, wiring, specification, codes, proportions of various material, and principles of operation and application of equipment.
  • Analyzes all types of drawings and wiring diagrams to locate, install, and repair all electrical apparatus, devices, and circuits.
  • Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, adjusts assemblies, and lubricates electrical equipment, taking all safety precautions.
  • Isolates circuits, dismantles, inspects, repairs, and adjusts or replaces faulty parts and wiring on power feeds and equipment.
  • Locates the source of trouble and makes either temporary or permanent repairs as required to equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and replaces all AC and DC motor drives, programmable logic controllers, sensors, and analog devices, assisting plant Electrical Engineers.
  • Uses a laptop PC to log in and communicate with processors in PLC racks, monitor variables, upload software, and force logic as necessary to troubleshoot.
  • Repairs and configures radio controls and transmitters for overhead cranes and locomotives.
  • Considers all safety precautions and proper isolation of circuits to cause a minimum of interference to operations.
  • Inspects, oils, and drains oil from air reservoirs and reports mechanical failures of air compressors.
  • Repairs mechanical breakdowns on overhead cranes.
  • Understands that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to customers.
  • Carries out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.
