About The Position

Fincantieri Marine Systems North America is hiring for an Electrician at our Jacksonville FL location. This is a 1st shift role, Monday – Friday 7AM – 3:45PM. The Electrician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment aboard ships and in shipyard facilities. This role supports electrical system functionality by executing assigned tasks, ensuring quality workmanship, and following shipyard safety and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of shipboard electrical systems, wiring methods, power distribution systems, motors, lighting circuits, and control components used in installation, repair, and maintenance activities, including basic knowledge of alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) systems and circuit principles
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical specifications, and troubleshoot electrical system malfunctions using diagnostic equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, insulation tester (megger), and other standard electrical testing tools
  • Working knowledge of NEC (2020–2023), IEEE 45, NAVSEA, and electrical safety standards, including energized system practices such as Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO), Work Authorization Forms (WAF), Hot Work procedures, and safe handling of electrical systems
  • Must have basic organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
  • Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMSNA and have high values for safety awareness
  • Journeyman, Technical or Associate’s degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 2 Years of marine, shipyard, or industrial manufacturing electrical experience required

Responsibilities

  • Install, route, connect, and secure electrical wiring, cables, fixtures, and equipment, including circuit breakers, transformers, panels, and other electrical components, using appropriate hand and power tools
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and components using diagnostic equipment such as voltmeters and ohmmeters to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to determine layout, installation, and repair requirements for assigned work tasks
  • Perform electrical work in a variety of environments, including confined spaces, elevated work areas, and shipboard locations using ladders, scaffolds, or aerial work platforms (AWP)
  • Other duties and overtime as assigned
