About The Position

This role involves performing a variety of electrical tasks, including the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. The electrician will be responsible for ensuring all work complies with safety regulations and project guidelines. This position requires the ability to work under supervision, utilize specific tools and procedures, and make independent judgments when necessary.

Requirements

May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
Ability to rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Ability to work under immediate supervision.
Primary job functions typically require some independent judgment and decision making.
State of Texas Journeyman License
CPR Certified through Houston Safety Council
Ability to distinguish colors.
Knowledge of certain procedures such as LOTO, etc.

Responsibilities

Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit using tools such as a hacksaw, pipe threader, ruler and conduit benders.
Pulls wiring through conduit.
Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads with knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together and applying tape or terminal caps.
Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools.
Connects power cables to equipment and installs grounding leads.
Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer and oscilloscope.
Disassembles and repairs defective electrical equipment or systems.
Loads, transports and unloads material, tools, equipment and supplies.
Maintains tools and equipment.
Observes and complies with all safety and project rules.
Performs other duties as required.
