About The Position

As Western Canada's leading venue for live events, we host a year-round schedule of sporting events, concerts, consumer shows and more each year while also supporting the community through an array of ongoing partnerships and initiatives. BC Place Stadium is hiring a part-time Electrician to join the Facility Operations team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Facility Operations, this position plays a vital role in providing high-quality electrical services to our clients and maintenance of the building. The Electrician’s primary responsibility is to ensure electrical systems are operating safely and efficiently. This position will also be responsible for troubleshooting, repairs, and installs, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Inter-Provincial or BC trade qualification as a Licensed Electrician
  • Minimum 3 years’ building maintenance experience in an event or facility environment
  • Varied experience in building maintenance, electrical systems, mechanical repairs, troubleshooting
  • Solid understanding of operating and maintenance manual procedures, Canadian Electrical Code, Safety Standards Act, Electrical Safety Regulation, and other related regulations
  • Proven familiarity with tools of the trade and safe working practices
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills including ability to follow instructions and provide clear directions
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and other employees from all levels, including contractors
  • Proven self-starter with exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Creative, highly organized and capable of multi-tasking
  • Physically fit and able to handle assigned tasks and stressful situations including exposure to seasonal heat and cold in an outdoor and indoor environment, long periods of standing, ability to comfortably lift 50 lbs, ability to work at heights
  • Able and willing to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Eligible to work in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Repair, maintenance and build of electrical systems in the stadium
  • Various electrical support for stadium events
  • Analyze and resolve technical concerns and perform some maintenance duties as required
  • Provides technical support to CFL and MLS technical staff and operators
  • Co-develop operational repair and troubleshooting procedures to minimize critical downtime
  • Carry out duties efficiently in scheduled time frames
  • Provide service excellence to internal and external clients
  • Follow all safe working practices and maintain a safe working environment
  • Adhere to the stadium health and safety regulations, including Health and Safety regulations and company policies
  • Perform other related duties as required
