About The Position

The Nebraska Capitol Commission is seeking an Electrician to maintain the electrical components within the Nebraska State Capitol Building. This role involves working on various electrical systems including motors, VFDs, switches, outlets, and lighting, as well as changing ballasts and light bulbs. The Electrician will collaborate with the maintenance staff, learning the building's daily operations and equipment to be able to respond to after-hours issues when on-call. Additionally, the position includes assisting with seasonal snow removal.

Requirements

  • Possession of a Nebraska Journeyman Electrical license OR Electrical Contractor license or eligibility to become licensed in Nebraska.
  • Must be able to present a valid driver's license.
  • Regular and Reliable attendance is required.
  • Able to lift 50lbs.
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed electrical contractor.
  • Familiarity with multiple building trades such as plumbing, refrigeration, and motor maintenance.
  • Good understanding of plumbing, air handlers, Geothermal equipment.
  • Experience with Building automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of electrical components in the Nebraska State Capitol Building.
  • Working on motors, VFD's, switches, outlets, and lighting.
  • Changing ballasts and light bulbs.
  • Working with maintenance staff to learn day-to-day operations and equipment.
  • Responding to after-hour problems when on-call.
  • Assisting with seasonal snow removal.
  • Working on electrical issues.
  • Performing other maintenance tasks such as changing filters, helping with events, and assisting with plumbing issues.
  • Working on the building automation system.
  • Performing all other duties assigned within the scope of the classification.
