About The Position

To perform all electrical-related job functions assigned, providing preventive maintenance and/or electrical repairs to all electrical motors and related components owned or rented by Gulf Island in a safe and efficient manner.

Requirements

3+ years experience as an electrician in an Industrial setting
Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
Must be able to pass background checks to company policy
Must be able to read and write
Standing

Turning, twisting, bending, and stooping
Pushing and Pulling
Reaching, forward and overhead
Climbing
Balancing, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing
Lifting - employees must lift to 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance such as changing worn electrical cables, plugs, sockets, fuses, switches, circuit breakers, etc., and checking electrical settings on welding machines to ensure efficient operations and performance
Repair and overhaul electrical motors on overhead cranes and welding machines and replace applicable parts, such as armatures, brushes, wiring, etc.
As required, run electrical lines and install electrical hookups (outlets, 220 volts, 440 volts, etc.) in the fabrication yard
Replace burned-out lights in office and shop areas
Repair electrical components in CB and two-way radios
Ensure that all electrical motors, machines, equipment, and application components are operating in a safe and efficient manner
Ability to read schematics
Perform other duties assigned by supervisor
