The Division of Traffic Operations is seeking skilled and dedicated electricians to join our Electrical Operations Unit. This role involves working under supervision to install, repair, and maintain high- and low-tension electrical systems that support lighting, heating, power, and communications across buildings, structures, and highways. Electricians also play a critical role in supporting the NYC Streets Plan by ensuring the reliability and functionality of electrical infrastructure that enables transit and street improvement projects. Transit Development (TD) is responsible for developing public transit-supportive street infrastructure and policies in order to improve mobility for all New Yorkers. The unit manages the bus-related components of the NYC Streets Plan, including the Better Buses and transit policy initiatives, and develops location-specific projects to help the quality and safety of bus operations and to improve pedestrian access to transit. TD also serves as a resource to the agency on public transit-related matters, including acting as one of the key points of contact with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). The Department of Transportation’s (DOT) mission is to provide for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods in the City of New York and to maintain and enhance the transportation infrastructure crucial to the economic vitality and quality of life of our primary customers, City residents.
