About The Position

CGC Inc. is currently recruiting an Electrician for our gypsum quarry, based in Little Narrows, Nova Scotia. It's a permanent and full-time position, offering a challenging opportunity for motivated individuals to demonstrate their technical abilities to troubleshoot and maintain crushing and quarry equipment within a large corporation.

Requirements

  • Has a Canadian Red Seal Certificate of Qualification as an electrician or currently in school working towards the Red Seal Certificate.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience is preferred in a manufacturing or mining environment.
  • Maintenance and repair experience in heavy equipment such as drills, loaders, dozers, and other mining equipment.
  • Experience with electronics is an asset.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work safely.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
  • Highly motivated, results orientated team player.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well organized.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electronics is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
  • Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.
  • May install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.
  • Operation of test equipment.
  • Cable pulling and termination.
  • Cable tray installation.
  • General electrical equipment installation.
  • Training will be provided to operate the ship loader and general Mill production duties as needed.
  • Follow safety practices for personal protection, protection of fellow workers and the protection of the public in accordance with the company safety manual.
  • Understand and implement personal and company safety by adhering to all safety requirements.
