About The Position

Plans layouts, installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, equipment, and control equipment on marine vessels and shipyard buildings in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Works with other crafts as instructed by supervision. The role requires regular attendance and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays. The employee works with minimal supervision and may indirectly supervise and/or train subordinates. Other duties may be assigned, and responsibilities may change.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair wiring, electrical systems, and equipment on marine vessels and shipyard buildings.
Inspect systems and electrical parts to detect hazards, defects, and needs for adjustment or repair.
Test internal circuits of major electrical equipment units for continuity, short circuits, and grounds; measure electrical quantities and compare them with established values.
Troubleshoot electrical equipment and circuits using appropriate test equipment to determine required maintenance, repairs, or replacements.
Maintain and repair generators, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, electrical motors, distribution panels, alarm systems, and lighting circuits.
Maintain and repair electrical power generating and distribution systems, voltage regulators, engine governors and equipment, machinery monitoring and remote-control systems, shipboard equipment power, control and display systems, and DC propulsion generators, motors, and control circuits.
Work with other crafts as instructed by supervision and with minimal supervision.
Comply with Company, federal, state, and local safety, ethics, and environmental rules, regulations, and policies.
Maintain regular attendance and work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
May indirectly supervise and/or train subordinates.
Perform other duties as assigned.
