About The Position

The Electrician is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and support of Nassau Coliseum and event requests. This includes managing 120-480 volt power distribution, shop repairs, motor control, lighting systems, and energy conservation. The Electrician must be able to respond to 12kv outages, diagnose issues, and take corrective action to restore power.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of a craft apprenticeship program or on-the-job training program providing journeyman level experience.
  • Five years of related journeyman level experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of practices, procedures, tools, equipment, and techniques used in the electrical trade.
  • Ability to work days, evenings, graveyard shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Electronic Test and Diagnostics experience.
  • Must provide own hand tools to perform required functions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform journeyman level electrical repair and maintenance on power distribution systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on electrical systems.
  • Repair motor controls and lighting systems.
  • Manage energy usage and conservation efforts.
  • Install power for contracted events.
  • Assist guests with the setup of electrical equipment for shows and seminars.
  • Provide support to other crafts as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
