About The Position

The electrician monitors, maintains, adjusts, and repairs electrical distribution systems owned or leased by the Medical University of South Carolina in order to ensure safety and reliability of emergency and normal power electrical systems. This role requires a working knowledge of all electrical systems including, but not limited to, Generators, ATS, MCC, Drives, Motors, Distribution Center, and Distribution Panels. Incumbent is Considered Essential Personnel in a disaster.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or Equivalent
  • 3 years general or industrial electrical maintenance experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Level 1 Thermography certification completion within one year of hire date and maintain a minimum level 1 for the following years after.

Responsibilities

  • Make necessary repairs or installations for electrical motors, lighting fixtures, lighting circuits, electrical disconnects, starters, panels, breakers, generators, transformers, and various other equipment.
  • Utilize modern testing equipment for troubleshooting electrical apparatus.
  • In emergencies, urgent, or call-back situations, essential personnel will support, install, and/or repair electrical apparatus.
  • Require level 1 Thermography certification completion within one year of hire date and maintain a minimum level 1 for the following years after. Utilize the software provided to create infrared reports as required.
  • Installing conduit, wire mold, or other various raceways. Must be able to pull wire, install lighting systems, control panels, and other electrical equipment in new and old buildings.
  • Perform other related duties, such as reading blueprints (paper or digital), operating various MUSC Health vehicles, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace and/or job sites.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and safety checks on high-voltage equipment, all electrical power panels, automatic transfer switches, and operational testing of emergency power generators.
  • Support scheduled electrical outage, resolved unscheduled electrical outages, including but not limited to power failures and planned maintenance shutdowns.
