About The Position
Join the team that maintains the electrical systems supporting the Elizabeth River Tunnels and related facilities. The Electrician performs hands-on troubleshooting, repair, installation, and preventive maintenance on power distribution, lighting, motors, instrumentation, controls, and facility electrical systems. This role helps keep critical transportation infrastructure operating safely and reliably.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid state-issued Journeyman or Master Electrical License required.
- Minimum of four years of electrical repair and maintenance experience required.
- Knowledge of wiring, circuitry, electrical systems, tools, equipment, materials, and applicable codes and standards.
- Ability to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain high- and low-voltage electrical systems and related equipment.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines, support projects, work a flexible schedule, pass required background and drug screening.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain electrical and electro-mechanical systems, including wiring, motors, lighting controls, instrumentation, and related equipment.
- Respond to outages, equipment failures, and emergency repair needs to restore safe and reliable operation.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, adjustments, and documentation for electrical systems and equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, and perform work in compliance with applicable NEC, OSHA, NFPA, and company requirements.
- Complete work orders, document time and materials used, and maintain accurate records for repairs, inspections, supplies, and equipment.
- Monitor contractor work, support other departments, communicate issues to leadership, and assist with special projects as assigned.
