About The Position

This role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical systems within the hospital and off-site facilities. The electrician will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including power distribution, alarm systems, and general maintenance repairs. Planning installations by reading blueprints and schematics, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and managing inventory of electrical supplies are also key aspects of this position. The role requires coordination with supervisors and timely input of data into the maintenance work order system, along with adherence to all departmental policies and procedures. Availability for on-call assistance is also expected.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a 4-year Electrician's apprenticeship.
  • Minimum of three (3) years or more of commercial or institutional experience as an Electrician.
  • Completion of electrician’s apprenticeship and Journeyman status.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Electrician certification.
  • Five (5) years or more of experience as a Journeyman Electrician with Healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair all electrical systems, including conduit, wiring, breakers, motors, electrical lighting, battery lighting, outlets, and electrical equipment.
  • Manage power distribution and generation.
  • Work with alarm and communication systems.
  • Monitor and inspect work to ensure compliance with work specifications, codes, and regulations.
  • Perform a variety of general maintenance repairs in the hospital and off-site facilities.
  • Plan installations by reading blueprints and schematics.
  • Keep work areas orderly, clean, and safe.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of electrical supplies, tools, and parts.
  • Coordinate work order lists with the Engineering Supervisor.
  • Coordinate with the Construction Supervisor for scheduling and completion of in-house construction projects.
  • Timely input data and time into the maintenance work order system.
  • Ensure compliance with all Riverview Health and Engineering Department policies and procedures.
  • Be available to assist Engineering staff by telephone or call-in.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
