About The Position

EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for a 1st shift Electrician supporting the General Services Administration (GSA) Operations, Maintenance, Custodial and Related Services contract at the FBI Central Records Complex (CRC) in W inchester, VA. The Electrician will perform electrical operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and limited installation work in support of a secure federal facility. Responsibilities include maintaining building electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, emergency and standby power equipment, electrical components serving mechanical and life safety systems, and related facility equipment in accordance with contract requirements, applicable codes, and site procedures. This position is covered by the CBA for Local 99.

Requirements

  • Must possess an active Top Secret security clearance or be eligible to obtain and maintain the required clearance for site access.
  • Must possess a current Virginia Journeyman Electrician License.
  • Minimum of four years of electrical experience in commercial, institutional, industrial, or government facility operations and maintenance.
  • Must be able to safely operate MEWPs, including single-man, scissor, and boom lifts, as well as forklifts, in accordance with site requirements and safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Virginia (VA) Master Electrician License.
  • NICET Level II Fire Alarm Systems certification or documented experience supporting fire alarm inspection, testing, troubleshooting, or repair activities in a commercial or government facility.
  • Experience working on government Operations and Maintenance contracts or in a government facility environment.
  • Experience supporting electrical components associated with building management systems, including control panels, field devices, relays, motors, starters, variable frequency drives, and related control wiring.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and limited installation work for building electrical distribution, lighting, panels, disconnects, motors, controls, receptacles, fixtures, equipment, and related systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment information, and site documentation to support safe and effective troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, daily equipment tours, inspections, readings, and deficiency reporting in accordance with the site preventive maintenance program, manufacturer recommendations, contract requirements, and established site procedures.
  • Test electrical systems and verify circuit continuity, insulation resistance, voltage, current, grounding, and equipment performance using appropriate test instruments, including multimeters, clamp meters, and megohmmeters.
  • Identify electrical issues, unsafe conditions, abnormal equipment operation, and follow-up requirements; correct deficiencies when authorized or escalate them through established procedures.
  • Use computers to document equipment readings, review equipment history, and support troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, inspections completed, test results, equipment conditions, and follow-up requirements.
  • Respond to urgent and emergency electrical service calls, troubleshoot issues, make safe repairs when authorized, and communicate status and follow-up needs in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with the Operations Manager, site leadership, government stakeholders, and other trades to support service needs, maintenance requirements, safety concerns, material needs, operational priorities, and project work.
  • Coordinate with, escort, and monitor EGS subcontractors and vendors performing electrical or related work on site, ensuring work is completed in accordance with safety requirements, site procedures, and contract expectations.
  • Perform all work in compliance with applicable electrical codes, OSHA requirements, NFPA 70E safe work practices, Lockout/Tagout procedures, site safety requirements, and contract specifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
