About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of electrical maintenance and repair tasks in accordance with established safety regulations and building codes. The Electrician will install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components, including lighting, power, and control systems. This role involves troubleshooting electrical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all electrical systems within the district's facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in electrical work or equivalent.
  • Valid Nevada State Driver's License.
  • Nevada State Electrical Journeyman or Master Electrician license.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a journey-level electrician.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory, National Electrical Code (NEC), and safety practices.
  • Proficiency in the use of electrical testing equipment and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Experience in a school district or similar public sector environment.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components, including lighting, power, and control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical malfunctions and breakdowns.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable safety regulations and building codes.
  • Respond to emergency electrical service requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment used in electrical work.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors as needed.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities.
