About The Position

Works under general supervision to perform journeyman-level work, such as repairing and maintaining electrical wiring; evaluating layout plans and cost estimates; installing new systems; repairing existing electrical high and low voltage electrical systems; performing minor rebuilding tasks; and repairing or replacing miscellaneous equipment.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited high school with a high school diploma or possess a GED
• Four (4) years’ experience in commercial electrical installation and /or maintenance.
• Memphis and Shelby County Journeyman Electrical License required.
• (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective repair and maintenance of all electrical equipment in the District.
• Inspects electrical installations of contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and electrical codes.
• Evaluates and estimates the cost of electrical repair and minor installations for new and/or remodeled projects.
• Plans layout and installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.
• Responds to electrical emergency situations, when requested.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
