About The Position

As an Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems. Your role will involve hands-on electrical work, blueprint interpretation, system testing, and collaboration with other team members. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of electrical safety and system design.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • State of Michigan Journeyman Electrician license preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • OSHA 10-hour safety certification preferred.
  • Ongoing commitment to safety standards and best practices in electrical work.
  • Ability to occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be capable of standing for extended periods, performing repetitive bending and squatting motions, and working in overhead conditions.
  • Ability to work in tight and confined spaces and on ladders or elevated platforms.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Self-motivated, highly productive, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to direct and train other workers.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical Installation & System Setup: Install various types of feeder and branch conduit and wiring, including EMT, IMC, rigid, PVC, and PVC-coated rigid conduit. Perform bending, cutting, and threading of conduit in all sizes and types. Install and configure electrical systems such as switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), electrical panels, fire alarms, conveyor systems, lighting, and power distribution systems.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Troubleshoot electrical components, including transformers, motors, panels, circuits, and related systems. Utilize diagnostic tools such as voltmeters and ohmmeters to test the continuity of electrical circuits, equipment, and fixtures to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance. Analyze and resolve electrical malfunctions, identifying root causes and using both test equipment and hand tools to make necessary repairs.
  • System Testing and Compliance: Conduct thorough testing of electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and compatibility, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Assess and verify the integrity of electrical circuits, identifying any potential issues or hazards before system activation.
  • Blueprint Reading and Documentation: Interpret and work from various blueprints, including MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) drawings, architectural drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and submittals. Ensure all electrical installations are in compliance with the specifications outlined in the blueprints and relevant codes.
  • Training & Supervision: Direct and train apprentice electricians and other workers in the proper installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members to ensure safe, effective, and accurate execution of tasks.
  • Prefabrication & Efficiency Improvements: Identify opportunities for prefabricating electrical components to streamline installation processes and improve overall project efficiency.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by management to ensure the smooth operation and timely completion of projects.
