About The Position

Keel was formed by bringing together three industry leaders combining generations of hands-on expertise in steel fabrication, shipbuilding, aerospace, and defense manufacturing. We build ships, defense systems, aerospace components, and heavy steel structures that serve critical missions β€” and we do it with pride. The Electrician performs electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on power panels, controllers, motor starters, and other electrical equipment. The position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including running and securing cables, installing cableways, stripping and terminating wires, making electrical connections, and using a multimeter to test voltage and troubleshoot electrical systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with three to four years of experience in electrical work or a related field.
  • Completion of an electrical apprenticeship and/or formal training in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair may be required.
  • Must possess intermediate knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, standard practices, and procedures.
  • Must be able to perform electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair with minimal supervision, including working with power panels, controllers, motor starters, cables, cableways, and other electrical equipment.
  • Ability to run, band, and secure cables; strip wires and cables; make electrical connections and terminations; use a multimeter to test voltage and troubleshoot electrical circuits; safely operate power tools and select the appropriate tools for assigned tasks; and read and interpret electrical blueprints with minimal assistance.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment, problem-solving ability, attention to safety, and the ability to work independently while communicating effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Occasional travel between plants as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intermediate-level electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain electrical equipment, including power panels, controllers, motor starters, and related equipment.
  • Run, route, band, and secure electrical cables. Install cableways and other electrical wiring systems.
  • Strip cables and wires and make proper electrical connections and terminations.
  • Use multimeters to test voltage and check electrical circuits and equipment.
  • Operate power tools safely and select the appropriate tools for assigned tasks.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints and drawings with minimal assistance.
  • Identify electrical problems and perform appropriate repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Follow standard electrical practices, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Complete a variety of electrical tasks using sound judgment, creativity, and technical knowledge.
  • Work under general supervision and communicate with the supervisor or manager when additional guidance is needed.
  • All other related duties as assigned.
