About The Position

Turner Industries is a fully diversified industrial contractor that provides responsive, innovative solutions to increase plant production, reduce costs, and prevent shutdowns in industries such as petrochemical, refining, energy, and pulp and paper. Headquartered in Baton Rouge, LA, Turner Industries has over 20,000 employees with offices and job sites across the United States. The Electrician position plans layout, installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures and control equipment. This is a non-exempt role that reports to the Foreman. Assigned duties are performed according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
  • Knowledge of electrician's tools and how to use them
  • Working on or above 600V or 69kV industrial high voltage distribution systems requires qualification
  • Most job sites require NCCER certification for A-class Electricians
  • Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
  • Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Responsibilities

  • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provides access for future maintenance and avoids unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring.
  • Prepares sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
  • Pulls wiring through conduit.
  • Splices wires.
  • Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.
  • Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.
  • Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components.
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • May repair faulty equipment or systems.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
