About The Position

Helix Electric, a leading electrical contracting company founded in 1985, is seeking an Electrical Trainee to support complex projects. This role requires an active ET Card and at least 2 years of experience.

Requirements

  • Must have an active ET Card.
  • Must have 2+ years of experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Building Codes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work from all types of ladders (step ladders up to 14', 'A' frame ladders, and all size extension ladders) and carry/relocate up to a 12' step ladder by oneself.
  • Employee's personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1-250 lbs., Class 1A-300 lbs.).
  • Able to work 8-10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime, and night shifts as required.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, including crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds, and pushing and pulling of objects.
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in type NM (Romex) and/or MC wiring methods is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with assembly, installation, maintenance, and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial and residential settings.
  • Prepare work areas for equipment installation.
  • Install or assist with the installation of electrical components.
  • Connect wiring and equipment according to code and job specifications.
  • Operate equipment only if trained and certified (e.g., powder-activated tools, JLG lifts).
  • Set up and operate tools such as hydraulic benders, power threaders, power pullers, and cable vacuum systems.
  • Read blueprints and electrical drawings and install as specified.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances per drawings or plans.
  • Secure and lock up equipment after use.
  • Deliver safe projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Assist with complex electrical installations in a fast-paced and fast-production environment.
