About The Position

This position is responsible for managing all electrical construction and preventive maintenance, instructing and supervising assigned inmate workers. It supports the Department of Corrections’ (DOC) mission, goals, and objectives through the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in an adult correctional facility. The role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance to maintain the integrity of existing structures and furnishings, as well as performing advanced electrical work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of the facility’s electrical systems. Keys data into the Total Maintenance System (TMS) for preventative and inventory purposes. May respond to emergency callbacks for service on a rotating basis.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of the standard practices of the electrical trade
  • Considerable knowledge of installation and maintenance of electrical equipment
  • Considerable knowledge of electrical codes
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles of supervision
  • Considerable skill in the use of tools and instruments related to the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to repair and install electrical equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise the work of others
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate project requirements
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Additional coursework related to the electrical trade
  • Progressively responsible experience in the electrical trade

  • Graduation from an electrician’s apprenticeship program or vocational training program
  • Multi-trades experience
  • Previous correctional experience
  • Master Electrician certification or licensed as an Electrician
