About The Position

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position Electrician Supervisor at Airway Heights Corrections Center, located in Airway Heights, WA. AHCC is an adult male incarcerated prison corrections facility located approximately 10 miles west of Spokane, WA. AHCC consists of a main facility that houses medium- and long-term minimum-custody I/I's. A separate perimeter adjacent to the main facility accommodates a minimum-security unit for I/I's with minimum-custody or lower. Whether the work is inside a prison, in community corrections, or in an administrative office, the Washington State Department of Corrections professional staff experience a high degree of personal satisfaction knowing they are creating environments in which all I/I can learn to make choices that contribute to a safer society. This non-permanent appointment is anticipated to last six (6) to eight (8) months, though it may end sooner or be extended.

Requirements

  • Electrical Journeyman Certification (01 L&I License)
  • Valid State issued Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • Eight years experience in electrical field, four years as journeyman in commercial or industrial work.
  • Graduate of state approved four year apprenticeship program.
  • Training in high voltage (600 to 20,000 volts) maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises a work crew of three to five Incarcerated Individuals in safe and proper methods of electrical maintenance of a minimum and medium security institution and support facilities.
  • Performs emergency backup diesel generator testing.
  • Operates, repairs, inspects, and maintains motor control systems, switching gear, and pump motors.
  • Repairs and installs electrical conduit for electrical, security, and low voltage systems.
  • Maintains, installs, and repairs electrical power to various commercial equipment to include washers, driers, steam kettles, ranges, toasters, grills, hot food carts, ovens, steam tables, and autoclaves.
  • Maintains, repairs, or installs all lighting systems to include incandescent, high intensity discharges, high pressure sodium, and fluorescent types of various voltage ranges.
  • Maintains documentation, keeps records, and works on projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
