About The Position

Installs, repairs, and hooks up equipment for all electrical services on the ship. This includes laying out, pulling, lifting out, and installing cable and conduit. The role involves preparing work areas, drilling holes, grinding metal surfaces, and welding mounting equipment. Additionally, the electrician will test electrical equipment and perform other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Requirements

  • Two years marine electrical experience and/or four years electrical experience
  • Must pass NASSCO assessment or be in a training program
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical and ship building practices necessary
  • Ability to use power and hand tools
  • Ability to read composite blueprints, computer printouts, and Navy standards manuals
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces
  • Available to work any shift
  • Must comprehend written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to hear warning signals
  • Must be able to read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings

Responsibilities

  • Prepare work areas, drill holes and grind metal surfaces

  • Test electrical equipment
  • Read composite blueprints, computer printouts and Navy standards manual
  • Removes scrap and performs general clean up
  • Other tasks as may be assigned relevant to the trade
