The person in this position operates mechanical equipment to assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts. This role requires the ability to repair and possess knowledge of EMD locomotive electrical systems, as well as other electrical systems. The individual must be able to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, read and understand electrical blueprints and drawings, and have knowledge of EMD diesel engines, air compressors, air brake equipment, gas engines, and other related mechanical equipment. Additionally, skills include welding and fabricating metal using a torch and electric welding machines, proficiency in computers and office equipment, and maintaining records of repairs and inspections. The role involves cross-training as a Machinist and inspecting and repairing railcars in compliance with FRA and AAR regulations. Pay is per contract: $32.43/hour first year, $34.34/hour second year, and $38.15/hour full pay after completing the second year.
