About The Position
The Division of Mechanical Services (DMS) is responsible for providing mechanical maintenance and electronic security services to numerous state-owned facilities in the Frankfort area and state office complexes in Louisville, Jackson, Madisonville, London and Spindletop in Lexington. This division's function is to maintain a comfortable environment for the building occupants and citizens who utilize these state facilities. DMS objectives include delivery of products and services using the fewest resources possible, ensuring employee safety, utility cost reduction and enhancing employees' professional skills. The Electrician Licensed will perform electrical work of all types for a state institution or facility.
Requirements
- Must be licensed as a Master Electrician or as an Electrician by the Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction.
- Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Responsibilities
- Performs maintenance and repairs on all types of electrical systems, troubleshoots electrical circuits, motor controls and lighting circuits.
- Replaces electrical equipment such as disconnects, plugs, switches and ballast as needed.
- Keeps employees and jobs going in the absence of the shop supervisor.
- Keeps paperwork and work orders, purchase orders, in neat and orderly manner.
- Keeps work truck clean and stocked.
- Performs and assist in the performance of special projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
