About The Position

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services. This position, at either the Electrician Licensed E9 (journeyman) or Electrician Master Licensed E10 (master) level, depends on the applicant's electrician license. The journeyman level involves performing a full range of electrician assignments using independent judgment for maintenance, construction, and remodeling projects on state properties, utilizing various power tools and equipment. The master level includes obtaining permits, performing all technical aspects of electrical work, and using considerable independent judgment without supervision, in addition to the responsibilities of the journeyman level. Both levels require providing excellent customer service and working cooperatively with staff and other trades.

Requirements

  • Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
  • Possession of a journeyman electrician's license (for E9).

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the Secretary of State as required by Public Act 346 of 1988 to operate a designated state vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of Electrician assignments for projects on state properties as required for maintenance, construction and remodeling.
  • Utilize a wide range of power tools and other equipment appropriate to the work.
  • Provide customer service with courtesy, respect and attention to detail.
  • Work cooperatively with staff and other trades.
  • Obtain permits (Master level only).
  • Perform electrical work as required by law (Master level only).
