About The Position

Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs facility electrical distribution systems, electronics, automation systems, lighting systems, apparatus, and devices. Requires basic skills and knowledge of motor controls and logic control systems. Qualified candidates should be familiar with low voltage systems, fire alarm systems, and voice and data systems. This position provides quality control using guidelines from the National Electrical Code, local codes, safety regulations, and EMCOR standard practices.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed Apprenticeship Program.
  • Must be 21 years old or older.
  • 4 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess applicable certifications, licenses and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Ability to walk the facility throughout the day.
  • Ability to regularly kneel repetitively during shift.
  • Ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis.
  • Ability to work and maneuver on a variety of terrains.
  • Ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Installs and connects power supply wiring and conduit for lighting, general devices, newly installed machines, and building equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and supports production controls and automation components.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged parts, broken wires, cables, and connections.
  • Maintains electrical distribution equipment: 3 phase 4 wire 277/480 VAC, 3 Phase 4 wire 120/208 VAC, and single phase 3 wire 120/240 VAC.
  • Replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards, relays, contractors, and control buttons.
  • Maintains building lighting, task lighting, parking lot lighting, lighting contactors, emergency lights/exit lights, 120 volt outlets, photoelectric eyes for exterior building lighting, and lighting contactors that are controlled by the energy management system.
  • Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings per the NEC.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks on 480 volt or less on all electrical utilities and equipment.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintains, organizes, and cleans shop area and/or service van, including inventory control, tool maintenance, and calibration of testing equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
