About The Position

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting electrical and electronic systems throughout the facility. This role supports plant operations by ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and upholding all safety and electrical codes. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of industrial electrical systems, PLCs, and computer-based equipment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (2 years) in electric control circuits or electronic technology
  • Industrial service field experience (2 years) preferred OR Completed approved electrical apprenticeship program, with proof of completion
  • Must have 4 years of on-the-job training included in the program
  • Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting industrial electrical systems
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, control circuits, and electronic components
  • Ability to work with computer-based and automated equipment
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documents
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities
  • Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, and industrial electrical safety practices
  • Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, electrical systems, and production equipment.
  • Sit, stand, walk, squat, and kneel for extended periods as needed.
  • Pull, push, and safely maneuver heavy equipment or materials.
  • Lift, carry, and position objects at waist height and overhead (up to 50 lbs).
  • Perform physical work in various conditions, including confined spaces, elevated areas, and both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company safety policies.
  • Able to pass a color vision test.

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and troubleshoot plant electrical systems, electronic systems, PLCs, and computer-controlled equipment.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and electronic equipment across the facility.
  • Diagnose electrical issues and perform repairs to minimize production downtime.
  • Assist in installing new equipment, wiring, conduit, control panels, and electrical components.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and maintenance activities.
  • Follow all company safety policies, electrical codes, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Production, and Engineering teams to support efficient plant operations.
